THE LAST DAY OF THE ''LIGA ADELANTE''

Yestarday was the last day of the ''Liga Adelante'', there where many surprises as every year, some are positive and some of them negative. The spanish football rules are:

-The top two are directly promoted

-Between the third and sixth place play playoffs for promotion

-Teams that occupy the last four places lose the category

The Elche c.f. is the champion of the league 2012-2013. Villarreal also rose yesterday to win 1-0 at Almeria,  it was an hitoric match, in the 55 min. Jonathan Pereira frame the goal that gave victory at Villarreal, it was a very special day for all fans of villarreal.

The struggle for salvation was given between three teams since Guadalajara lost the catagory by decision of the LFP, the three teams was Real Murcia, Huesca and Racing de Santander. The result of the match was:

Real Murcia 1-0 Las palmas (Matilla 54 min)

Recreativo 0-0 Huesca

Racing 3-0 Hércules (Jairo 2 goals and Óscar Pérez)

Nobody predicted that Real Murcia could get the salvaion but finnally he got it!. The team had to stay was easier Huesca, and that it was more difficult was the racing.

How to be an Ironman.

In the world there are a lot of different sports, some of them are more diffiult than others but, what's is the hardest sport?

Well, in my opinon this question has a possible answer: the Ironman.

When we talk about Ironman, we are not talking about the film, we refer to a type of triathlon but in an extreme way, this mixure of sports is formed by a race in which the athlete has to swim 4 km, to cycle 180 km and finally to run a marathon (42,2 km); but not during all your live, the athlete has to do it in less than 17 hours.

This “type of die” has their beginnings in Hawaii, where the most important Ironman race takes place. It's not very common to see an Ironman race, the're only few cities that are able to organize it. Here in Spain, people who are interested in participate in one of this races, have the possibility of doing it in Lanzarote.

It is not necessary to say that to take part in an Ironman you have to spend several months with a hard level of training, in all the differents sports that the triathlon is composed by.

From my own point of view I think that it's necessary to make a great physical effort to finish one of these races, but I like the sport and challenges so I wish that one day I will cross that finish line and became in an Ironman.

Here's a comedy video about a men who took part in an Iroman race and achieved his goal.

SILVER MEDAL, GOLDEN STORY

Along our lifes, a lot of many different things, experiences and situations happen to us; some of them are good ,some of them aren´t. But they have something in common. They teach us how to adapt our life in a different way, or change our daily life.

From my own point of view, a good way to get over a problem is to think about new challenges, trying to test ourself, to know what we are able to do. A challange can be a lot of things, for example learning things that we could not do previusly.

How many times we want to do something but we can not do it because of physical conditions or anothers problems?

There are a lot of people over the world that are in this situation. What is the solution? Very simple:

The people use to say that the real force is in the mind, and, I think that they're right.

“If you want, you can”, this is an universal truth.

This is the story of Daniel Molina, a spanish athlete that has an incredible life “thanks” to one of the moments that we were talking about before. When I saw the video, a lot of sensations crossed my body, I experimented an emotion of happiness and superation.

Miami Heat are on fire

Last 26th April, Miami Heat went to Milwaukee to play the 3^rd game of the first round of Playoffs against the Bucks. They arrived there with an advantage of 2-0 and they wanted to make it bigger. But Milwaukee Bucks wanted to take their revenge and stay alive in the competition.

The game started and Miami were defending very hard, but their offensive plays didn’t work very well, they were slow and not very effective.  Milwaukee knew that and they started scoring more points than the Heat mainly thanks to Brandon Jennings and Larry Sanders.  Miami hardly score a point in the first minutes and the Bucks set a distance of around 10 points. At the end of the quarter, Milwaukee was leading 21-30.

In the 2^nd quarter Miami realized they had to work harder if they wanted to lead the game, and so they did. LeBron,  Allen and Bosh started attacking seriously and at the end of the quarter they had approached to the Bucks and the score was 48-50. Milwaukee was leading then, but not for long.

Miami Heat definitely woke up and the next 12 minutes were amazing. Ray Allen scored many 3-pointers, LeBron kept assisting and scoring as usual, and Chris Andersen the “Birdman” did nice playing and also very good dunks. The 3^rd quarter finished and the score was 78-68. There were another 12 minutes left, but the game was already sentenced.

Miami used the last quarter to extend their advantage to 17 points and Ray Allen used it to score a few 3-pointers and become the man with most 3-pointers in Playoffs: 322. Miami relaxed a bit and Milwaukee cut a little bit of distance, but it was too late. The game finished and the score was 104-91 for Miami Heat.

Now, Miami confidently waits the next game knowing it’s very sure they will pass the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

A great big biography of a great big man

Pau Gasol started playing in the NBA in 2001, when he was 21. He had played in FC Barcelona before, until he was given the great opportunity to go to America. This chance was given by the Atlanta Hawks, an ordinary team in the league then. But he suddenly changed team because the Atlanta sold him to Memphis Grizzlies, before the season started. He didn't play very much until his team mate, Stromile Swift got injured, and Pau could get in the first team. He scored 27 points the following match, and since then, the coach didn't leave him out the 1st team. That season, he got an average of 18 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks per match and was chosen the best rookie of the year. His first year would also be remembered because of this spectacular dunk against Kevin Garnett, who had challenged him the play before:

(I could not find a video with English commentaries)

That season and the next one weren't very good for the team: their defeats doubled their victories. But everything changed his 3rd season in the NBA, when Memphis Grizzlies got into the Playoffs. They were defeated in the first round, but that made him improve and learn he had to make an effort to get what he wanted.

On his 4th year, Memphis renewed his contract making it valid until 2011. He passed from receiving 4 to 10 million dollars a year. He also reached 5000 points in the NBA that season. The next one, he was chosen to play the All-Stars game.

But his 6th year in Memphis he decided he wanted to be in a top team. Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and New Jersey Nets wanted him, but he finally went to LA, to play for Los Angeles Lakers.

He started training with his new team mates and after the first match Kobe Bryant declared that Pau Gasol is incredible. The Lakers got in the Playoffs and won the quarter-final and the semi-final, but they lost the final against Boston.

The next year, his 8th in the NBA, was probarbly the most important year in his career in America. He reached a total of 10000 points in the NBA, but the most important event was the victory in the Playoffs final against Orlando Magic. It was also the year when he started playing against his brother Marc, who played for Memphis then (and continues playing nowadays). The next season was another good one. He won another NBA ring against Boston Celtics, the perfect revenge. Here is the moment when he scores his 10000th point, added to a magnificent assist:

(In Spanish again because it's the most complete one)

The next two seasons, LAL kept trying their luck in the Playoffs, but they lost against Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma Thunder.

Now, D'Antoni is Los Angeles Lakers coach and we have just heard they are classified to play the Playoffs. This is the season in which we can say Pau Gasol has scored 15000 points in the NBA and I hope I am right if I say that Pau Gasol will have his 3rd NBA ring.

"La roja" or "canalinha", the big question.

Diego Costa is a football player from Brazil, he born in "Lagarto" on 1988. He is a forward, his main quality is that he is very agressive, a factor that more than once to cost him dearly. He started to play football in Spain at Celta de Vigo, where he get 5 goals in 30 matchs.

Currently, he plays in the Atletico de Madrid, when after his great season he received the call of the Brazil team. Diego is in process of receiving the spanish nacionality, which could play in the Spanish team and the coach Vicente del Bosque has know his wish that diego plays in the Spanish team. This raises the questions of playing in his natal country or in the country that has given all in football.

¿Fair match?

Yesterday, the 5th March, Manchester United played against Real Madrid CF, and many people are wondering about the headline question. That is because of the red card that was shown to Nani, a fundamental player for the Red Devils, at the beginning of the second part of the game. Even though Mourinho said that the winner (Real Madrid) wasn't the best team I think it was a fair victory.

To explain why, let’s analyze the second half of the match. It started, and 3 minutes later Sergio Ramos socred an own goal accidentally after Welbeck touched the ball. After that, Real Madrid put his men helping the strikers, very offensively, but Manchester kept trying to score another goal. But that was until Nani kicked Arbeloa and he saw the red card. Here is the first doubt of the second half: Was the referee right by showing Nani the red card? When I saw the repetition I saw that Nani had put the leg very high, and I consider that dangerous playing. But he didn't just move the leg, he hit Arbeloa in the chest, reminding me of the kick that Xabi Alonso received in the World Cup final. That's why for me Nani had to go sit in the bench.

And here is the second doubt of the second part: Would the same thing have happened if Nani hadn’t been shown the red card? After Nani left the match, Manchester stopped attacking and the whole team start to defend, but Real Madrid kept doing the same thing, having posession of the ball, but with one more man attacking, because Arbeloa, a deffender, was substitued by Modric, an offensive player. So Madrid was attacking better, but United was deffending better, too. That's why I think Nani wouldn't have been important the rest of the match, because Nani is an offensive player and Manchester needed deffending then.

In the minute 65, Modric scored a good goal by overtaking a deffender and shooting from about 30 metres from De Gea's goal, who couldn't do anything to stop the powerful shot, that hit the post before it came into the goal.

In the minute 68, the second goal arrived by the hand of Cristiano Ronaldo. Modric started the play passing the ball to Higuaín, that was in the right side of the box, next to Özil, who recieved and gave back the ball with the hill. Then, Higuaín passed the ball near the left post, where Ronaldo would score the second goal for Real Madrid. But he didn't celebrate the goal, because Manchester United had been his team until 2009 and he respected that.

After that, Real Madrid did a substitution: Pepe came in and Özil went out. That way, Real Madrid had again 4 defenders, a good decision because Manchester had to score 2 goals and the whole team would attack since then.

United played better than Madrid the rest of the match, and they had many chances to score, but Diego López was inspired and he didn't let any Devil to score. He did 3 magnificent stops, which saved Real Madrid from defeat.

So, was it a fair match? In my opinion, yes, it was.

As if he had never been away

Last 15th of December, Minnesota Timberwolves played against Dallas Mavericks in an exciting game at Target Center, where Ricky Rubio played for the first time after nine months, when he was injured. Without Kevin Love playing, the Wolves beat the Mavs, who didn't make it easy for Minnesota.

These were Minnesota's initial players:
1. Ridnour
2. Shved
3. Pekovic
4. Cunningham
5. Kirilenko

And these were Dallas' initial players:
1. Jones
2. Mayo
3. Kaman
4. Fisher
5. Marion

In the first quarter, Dallas started leading and got 10 points away in the score. Their strategy was using four "little men" and only a tall player, who was the team reference when attacking. This was effective against the Wolves and the quarter finished 32-22 for the Mavericks.

The second quarter was the other way round: Minnesota players woke up and started playing very well, with good passes and good throws. When there weren't many minutes left, Minnesota's coach decided that Ricky Rubio had to play after being injured for nine months. He was very comfortable while he was playing and he was the playmaker of the team again. Minnesota thrushed Dallas and the quarter finished 45-54.

The third quarter was very matched even though the Wolves played as well as in the 2nd quarter, but Mayo and Fisher appeared to save the quarter and the match, and when the game finished, they had scored 20 points each. The score after that quarter was 70-80 led by Minnesota.

In the last quarter, Pekovic scored many pointsand he finished the match with 21 points, but Dallas played very well scoring 10 points more than Minnesota forcing the overtime. That happened by a miracle, because in the last play, the Timberwolves had three chances to scored, which they missed. The score after the four quarter was a draw 102-102.

The overtime was like the second quarter. Minnesota thrushed Dallas again helped by the huge Russian man, Kirilenko. After this, the final score was 106-114 and Minnesota Timberwolves won. But not only this was a great new, the best one was that Ricky Rubio played a fantastic match scoring 8 points, catching 4 rebounces, assisting 9 times, and stealing the ball 3 times in 18 minutes.

WANTED: 2012 F1 World Champion

Last weekend, Austin's Formula 1 race took place; a race in which Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line in 1st position, Sebastian Vettel was 2nd and after him, Fernando Alonso in 3rd place. This race has been one of the most interesting races because Vettel could have become the world champion, but that didn't happen.

Sebastian Vettel was 10 points ahead Alonso before the race and he needed to earn 15 points more than him to become the world champion, and it looked it was going to be that way when Sebastian came 1st in the qualification and Fernando came 9th. But as Alonso predicted, the championship wasn't going to finish after that race and now I'm going to tell you why.

Alonso climbed 2 positions in the grid because Romain Grosjean and Felipe Massa (Alonso's team mate), who qualified better than him, dropped 5 places because of unscheduled changes in their cars. So Vettel would start from the 1st position, Hamilton from the 2nd one, Mark Webber (Vettel's team mate) from the 3rd one, and Alonso from the 7th one. Every one thought that Vettel was going to win the race and Alonso couldn't do anything, but that was until the race started.

At the start, Hamilton lost his position with Webber and from behind, Alonso climbed to 4th position. Everything was normal until suddenly Webber broke his alternator and his car stopped working. Workers in Red Bull Racing Team were afraid of this kind of problem to happen because they had had it all over the year and it was important to do not retire because that way Alonso gets more points and closer to Vettel. Then, Sebastian was 1st, Lewis was 2nd and Fernando was 3rd.

When this happened, Hamilton started getting closer to Vettel and he had some chances to overtake him. Meanwhile, Alonso did a pit stop, but there was a problem: a tyre got stuck and the mechanics couldn't get it out of the car! They lost too much time and everyone thought that the driver behind him, Kimi Raikkonen, was going to exit the pit in front of him. But when he did it he had exactly the same problem with the same tyre and he lost the same time Alonso did! So, luckly for him, Fernando was still 3rd.

Hamilton now was less than 1 second behind Vettel and, when there were 14 laps to go, Lewis overtook him. But Vettel thought that the race wasn't finished and kept trying to be again in the 1st position, but, at last, he couldn't do it. So the race finished and Hamilton was the winner, Vettel was 2nd and Alonso, far away from him, finished 3rd.

Now, Vettel is the leader of the championship with 273 points and Alonso is 2nd, 13 points behind. There is only one race left and if Alonso wants to be the world champion he has to get 1st to the finish line if Vettel finishes 5th or worse, 2nd if Vettel gets 8th or worse, or 3rd if Sebastian gets 10th or worse. If Vettel gets 4th or better, no matter what Fernando Alonso does, he will be the 2012 Formula 1 World Champion.

PARALYMPIC GAMES

The Paralympic Games are an official Olympic competition founded by Ludwig Guttmann in 1960, for certain types of athletes with physical, mental and / or sensory and motor disabilities, amputations, blindness, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities.

The flag representing the Paralympic Games logo corresponds to the IPC and has been subject to several changes. It includes three elements of red, green and blue, the three colors used on national flags.

Disabled people have a strong will power, as it is required a lot of work submitted to the olympic games. They are people like us, but with the detail that distinguish us from them. For everything else, they are able to perform all kinds of activities.

The Paralympic Hymn was composed by the composer Thierry Darnis and was approved by the IPC in March 1996 and can be heard when the flag goes up or down in Paralympic ceremonies.
